i ended the game a day ago
and i sided with the mages, in the end they made my character sound like a bad revolutionary
but i "guess" that if you side with the templars you wind up being like the good guy who deserves to be viscount

You have to side with the Templars. That's it as far as I know. You don't actually see yourself become Viscount, it's just implied when Varric sums things up in the end.

You don't need him to like you. Earning rivalry points isn't a bad thing. As long as you completely max out the rivalry or friendship part of the bar before the end of the game he will stay loyal to you. You can also romance him as a rival. Don't feel like you need to kiss his butt, just be consistent in your choices.
If you really want to be his friend take a hard stance against mages, blood magic, and slavery. Once his friendship bar is maxed out it locks and you don't have to worry about gaining or losing any more points.In Dragon Age 2 how do you get Fenris to like you?

Unlike Dragon Age: Origins, you don't need to unlock them, but instead you will receive one specialization point at level 7 and another at level 14, giving you 2 specializations. Just add them in your skills window.
